Noel

Yes, another Christmas card! I used papers by DCWV, a stitched flag die by LDRS, a star brad that I antiqued with alcohol ink to tone it down, and a large border punch by Fiskars. It feels strange to make a card without any stamping but this is a good way to use up those random patterned papers that we all have in our stash.

Yes, Yet Another Christmas Card

I told you I'm on a Christmas card-making roll! Here is another one, using paper from an old Winter Stack by DCWV, and a Christmas sentiment that I prettied up with some Stickles. I used a tag die by Sizzix, and a little bit of bakers twine.

Peace and Joy - Guest Designer Shartl

When my daughter recently borrowed my blog to enter her card in a challenge, I referred to it as hijacking my blog. However, it was pointed out to me by my blog friend D.Ann, that Guest Designer sounded much more professional...and so it shall be called, haha!
My daughter usually enters her cards from Flickr as shartl83 but needs to enter through a blog for some of the challenges, so you'll see a card or two from her on my blog every so often. After all, what are families for if they can't share a blog, right?

So, this card , which is made by Shannon, uses a stamp by Unity Stamp Company, and was colored with dye markers. Then some sparkly rhinestone ornaments and a star sticker were added, just for fun.

Yuletide Greetings

I told you I was in the mood to make Christmas cards, so here is another one. I have FOUR bins filled with Christmas papers, embellishments, ribbons, and stamped images that need to be colored. That doesn't count my Christmas stamps, which seem to multiply on their own! I try to sit down at least once a week and color images, arrange doo-dads on pretty papers, and add to my Christmas card stack. Many of the cards that I make are donated to nursing homes in the area, as so many of the residents and patients don't receive visitors or cards during the holidays. This is one of those for the donation stack, and I used papers from a magazine, along with a stitched tag die by Spellbinders. All I needed to do was add some scraps from my stash and a pretty gold star brad.

Seasons Tweetings

Looks like this rainy winter weather is bringing out the Christmas card-making mojo in me as I made several of them today and yesterday. This one uses an adorable Lawn Fawn stamp and die set that my daughter won from the lovely Di Wray, who has the Snippets challenge on her blog. Since daughter is busy with her 2 month old new addition, I borrowed the set and made this happy little entry. I also used lots of bits and pieces from my scrap stash..which is the whole purpose of the Snippets challenge in the first place. A few punched hearts, tag die from Altenew, and my favorite jute twine finished this puppy off.
Speaking of my jute twine, I seem to have misplaced the roll, and this is causing me no end of misery. I may have to break down and go out in this rain to buy more..argh!

Ho Ho Ho

Still learning how this blogging thing works but I'm slowly getting the kinks out. In the meantime, I'm taking advantage of this rainy, windy, dreary day by holing up in my craft room and finishing up some cards that have been languishing in my unfinished pile.
This stamped image is by VivaLasVegastamps and I've had it for years. It came in a grab bag, but a friend wanted it ...so I stamped out a bunch of the images and passed the actual stamp on to her. Not only did I stamp it in black ink, but I heat embossed in white , on red card stock. I have a bunch of these embossed images so it's time I turned one into a card. I added a heat embossed sentiment by Meli Melo and added a die cut button by MFT. Patting myself on the back for actually using some ribbon for a change.

Love Is All You Need

I am having so much fun with this stamp set from The Cats Pajamas called, "Let It Happen", and so I decided to make an anniversary card with this adorable pop-corn loving couple. Every time I look at those 3-D glasses I have to laugh! This card will go to my daughter and her husband of almost 11 years and yes, they love going to the movies and eating popcorn!
Colored this with alcohol markers and popped one of the popcorn kernels up on foam tape for dimension. The background was stamped with a set by a company that is no longer around (sob), and I added a sentiment by Cardz TV. The stitched circle dies are by MFT , and the stitched rectangle is by Lawn Fawn.

Party On

My blog friend, Janis of Her Peaceful Garden, gave me the cutest cat dies a while back and I've been playing with them this last week. My little 5 year old granddaughter was just in love with these cuties as we die-cut, embossed and  inked them  up. I popped on of these kitties on a birthday card, using a scalloped frame die by Winnie and Walter from the Audrey Cutaways set. I added a sentiment  and music notes from Party On, a sparkle design from Sparkle (of course), and a cake image from Happy Dance (all by Winnie and Walter) . A little bit of Glossy accents on the cake and hat give it extra pizazz (but is unfortunately not obvious in the photo).

Now, just for fun, I want to share the card that my 5 year old granddaughter made while she was staying with us for the long weekend! It uses the same Kitty die set by Darice, but she chose the sleeping kitty. As you can see, this cat is sitting on her sumptuous tassled cushion, and is dreaming of a red velvet cupcake. Ever the creative doodler, granddaughter added decorative corners and a layered crazily glittered flower just for fun. Oh yes, and note that this is a uni-cat...so she hand drew the unicorn horn and glittered that too. Can't ever have too much glitter if you're a 5 year old!

Kickin Back

I have several House Mouse Designs stamp sets that I don't use often enough, but that's going to change. This sweet little image makes me think of warm spring weather, and also makes me want to take a nap! Actually, a nap always sounds good but that's beside the point.
I colored this image with alcohol markers, then die cut with a square die by Cottage Cutz. I then added a sentiment by Winnie and Walter from their Sentimental Gift set. Also layered stitched rectangle die by Gina Marie and Stitched flags by LDRS.

Anniversary Mice by Shartl

Hi, this is Karen's daughter, Shannon.  Although this isn't my blog, I'm entering this card here since I don't have a blog of my own. I usually enter challenges through my Flickr account but apparently some challenges can't access Flickr so I'm trying it this way. My Flickr account is shartl83 .

I haven't had much time to craft, with our new little kiddo (a baby boy)  in the family, but my mom has been coming over every week to help out, so I was able to sit down and make this anniversary card for my cousin. The stamp is by House Mouse designs and was small enough for me to color and still have time to make the card. I used a sentiment by Cardz TV and stitched tag die by Gina K designs. The heart patterned paper is one that I've been wanting to use for ages so this makes me happy. I even used a heart brad from my stash! This card practically made itself and I like that!

Thanks for letting me hijack your blog, Mom!

The Sweetest

I love House Mouse designs but often forget to use them, so I was happy to pull out this cute image and turn it into a Valentine card. This little guy always makes me laugh but the funniest part is that I always thought he was a mouse. Turns out this is a Happy Hopper design, which means he's a rabbit...ah well, I learn something every day.

I colored him with alcohol markers, then paired it up with red and white checked paper from my stash, stitched circle die by Gina Marie, a sentiment by My Favorite Things, and a bit of grosgrain ribbon. Ribbon is something else I often forget to use so I'm trying to remedy that this year as well.

This image is called Seed Shooter, and makes me long for summer and watermelon (but I much prefer the seedless version).

Merry and Bright All Year Long

I'm trying to make my Christmas cards all year round but already fell behind for January, so I pulled out some papers that I won on the DL.Art challenge a few months back, and made this one for my donation stack. The tag die is by Taylored Expressions and the tree stamp is by Hero Arts. I also used a wood grained background stamp by Winnie & Walter, along with a sentiment from Comfort and Joy (also by W&W).

I used a stamp by Unity Stamps for this Valentine card, then added some twine and hung the sentiment banner from the top. Folding clean laundry is actually one of my favorite things to do so this card just makes me feel happy. Images are colored with watercolor pencils. Oh my goodness, my card is appearing twice and I have no idea why. This blogging business has more of a learning curve than I expected..sigh.

Valentine Cards in the Works!

Well, February is just flying by and I only now managed to make a Valentine card. I used stamps by TCP studios (the owl and sentiment) and Simon Says Stamp (the stamped heart) , papers from the Dollar bin at Target (from several years back) and an embossing folder by Darice. I handcut the patterned paper shape and colored the sentiment and owl with alcohol markers.

About Me

I don't know about you, but when I read a blog I always like to know a little bit about the blogger. It makes seeing the projects more interesting, and I'm nosy anyway. Can't figure out how to add anything to the About Me profile, so I'll just put this at the beginning of my blog and be done with it.
I'm a life-long Californian who grew up in Southern California and then moved to northern California after college. My husband and I ran a business for 25 years and are now retired. That is, I'm retired...but he teaches psychology at the community college part time. We have three grandchildren and one grand-dog (who now lives with us). I love stamping, paper crafting, scrapbooking (in theory, although not so much in practice), and entering challenges keeps me motivated to create. It also inspires me to pull out some of those craft supplies and use them instead of just hoard them.
Most of my projects are posted on Flickr, but the changes in Flickr made me finally jump into blogland and start my own blog. One of these days I'll figure out how to pretty up this basic, economy-style format, but for now it's a start.
In addition to making cards, I love to read, watch mystery suspense shows and movies, and attempt to organize my craft supplies. My craft room doubles as the guest room and is nothing like those big, light-filled craft rooms that you see online (filled with coordinated furniture and beautiful samples). Rather, my room is basically a mine-field of stacked papers and bins, scattered ink pads and stamp sets, and a hodge podge of products piled on the table and floor. My Big Shot is perched on a large Rubbermaid tote on the floor. That means I do all of my die-cutting on the floor..which led to a terrible bout of sciatica in 2018...sigh. It was totally worth it though..ha!
Thanks for stopping by!

Well I guess I need to start a blog

I've resisted setting up a blog for years but it looks like it's time to finally jump in. I've been posting my craft projects on Flickr, but the changes on Flickr have limited the number of uploads allowed. In addition, some changes in Linky have resulted in my craft challenge uploads not showing my descriptions or links to the challenges themselves. That means that I can't enter all of the challenges I've entered in the past...so it's time to set up a blog. So, there you have it as I'm drawn, kicking and screaming, into the world of blogging.

This may be a complete disaster (filled with failed uploads, typos, and just plain poor blogging practices. On the other hand, it might even be fun (one can hope).

Let's see if I can get this posted first. If it works (fingers crossed) I can start to post my challenge projects. Wish me luck!
