Christmas Village

I work on Christmas cards all through the year and pulled out this very old patterned paper by Current Inc., along with a stamp by Art-Kure (Gold Hill, Shaftesbury) to make this wintery scene. The label dies are by Spellbinders and Gina K. Those layered blue patterns really give a nice snowy look to the design, don't they.

Please email me with your address so I can get your goodies sent out.
Have a great, crafty week everyone!

Kitty Birthday

I love making a basic card design for birthdays, that can be personalized by adding different elements...like this cat for a cat lover. The cake and sentiment are by Hero Arts (Stamp and Cut Birthday) and the cat is by All Night Media. The stars are by Winnie and Walter.

Mediocre sheetcake

I had to make a birthday card for a 21 year old male and was stumped because I have no idea what his hobbies and interests are (besides video games!) So, I pulled out my Stampin' Up birthday stamp set, which has several humorous sentiments that are perfect for a guy. I added stars by MFT, and some yellow twine.

Butterfly Birthday

Here is another one-layer CAS card, using a Stamplorations stamp set called Trendy Butterflies. I also used ink smooshing, along with a wood grained stamp by Bo Bunny from the Wall to Wall Textures stamp set. The sentiment is by Stampendous. These are going to be part of a card set for my sister's birthday present.

Birdsong

After I made my bird-themed one-layer card the other day, I realized that it really didn't fit the criteria of CAS, even though it was one-layered. So....I pulled out the same Stamplorations stamp set of Trendy Birds 2, and made it more CAS. My attempt at the ink smooshing technique was rather dismal, but I overstamped the background with a leaf stamp by Club Scrap, and then added the bird and a sentiment by MSE stamps.  I think this would work as either a feminine or masculine birthday card. One-layered AND CAS!

Fly

Here is another one-layer card, using a stamp and stencil by Stamplorations. The stencil is the mini-leaf stencil, and the bird and sentiment are from Trendy Birds 2. I used the edge of scrap paper to ink the border along the bottom. The red floral motif is by Papertrey Ink.

Birthday Cupcake

I decided to play with some of my Stamplorations stamp sets and stencils today, so I made this cupcake birthday card. I used a circle die to make my own stencil, and inked inside the shape with an ink blender. Then I used the straight edge of scrap paper to ink the borders along the top and bottom. The cupcake stamp is Sketched: Cupcake by Stamplorations and the sentiment is by Stampendous. I used some tiny star images from Sparkle by Winnie and Walter. Making a one-layer card was nerve-wracking and I kept wanting to add more, but forced myself to stop..ugh.

Merriest Wishes

I always try to make a few masculine Christmas cards for my donation pile to the Retirement and nursing homes, because most card-makers seem to prefer feminine styles and often forget the gentlemen. This  crazy mix of patterns made me giggle, because it reminded me of when my father-in-law was alive and he often wore plaids and stripes together..eek! The little decorative squares were part of my baggies full of handmade embellishments from years back, and I just teamed them up with striped paper and a stamped sentiment by Momenta. The deer die is by Little B.  What do you think? Too wild...haha!

Tis the Season

Well, I had fully intended to go to bed fairly early tonight, but ended up having to stay up later than I wanted (don't even ask..), so I figured I may as well make more Christmas cards. I have boxes and baggies, and baggies and boxes of little handmade embellishments that I made years ago. They were originally made as samples for a card class that I teach on occasion at the local senior center, but they were too complex for most of the participants to handle so I tucked them away. This little gift bag was made by folding paper into a tiny bag shape, punching holes and threading jute through for handles..and adding a sticker and some tissue paper. I just popped it on some patterned paper and called it done!

Love Peace Joy

Here is a card that uses stamps by Joy Clair, a tag die by Gina K, and some paper and twine from my stash. I love this stamp set because all the elements are separate and you can add different sentiments or designs to the ornament, and add the pine needles where you want them. The sentiment was trimmed from a larger stamp by Stampin' Up. This simple design can be easily mass produced at Christmas, don't you think?.

Glitter Ornament

Here is another Christmas card...yes, I'm on a roll! I had all of my Christmas papers and stamps out in my craft room, so decided to just go ahead and use them. This ornament is by Sweet and Sassy and is cut from pretty white glitter paper by DCWV. Unfortunately, you can't see the glitter in any of my photos, but I included a little close-up so you can see what I mean. The tiny poinsettia die and leaves are from a set that was given to me by a friend, and I used old DCWV Mat Stack papers for the background.
Well, you still can't really see the glitter paper, but it's gorgeous in real life, ha!

All I Want For Christmas

When I saw the Snarky Christmas theme for the Christmas Kickstart challenge, I began to dig through my Christmas stamps and sentiments in order to come up with something that was, by definition on the blog, full of "sass, sarcasm and irreverence" without going over the line..ahem, cough, cough... My first two cards required a computer generated sentiment of my own design because none of my stamp sentiments came close to what I wanted to say. And then, today, what should show up in a grab bag of goodies that I ordered from Sparkle N Sprinkle but the Christmas Goose set. Not only does it include a frazzled goose, wrapped up in strings of lights, but a whole assortment of fun, sassy, and snarky sentiments! Now the problem was paring it down to just one...and this was the one that spoke to me the loudest.
I added some stitched lines with a Lawn Fawn die, and a bit of bakers twine, just for fun. I may have to make several of these for next Christmas, because I know a lot of friends who can relate completely.

Santa Fail

So here is another card with a Snarky Christmas sentiment...and a humorous stamped image ( VivaLasVegastamps). I got this stamp in a grab bag years ago, and couldn't figure out what I would ever use it for. So, I passed it on to a friend of mine who has a twisted sense of humor and would get a lot of use from this silly image. Fortunately, I stamped several sheets with the image before I passed it on and find myself reaching for those every Christmas. What better time to pull it out than for the Christmas Kickstart challenge #10, Snarky Christmas? I added a computer generated sentiment, and colored it with alcohol markers for a CAS design that makes me both cringe and giggle! Poor Santa...
For some reason, I keep getting a glare on the sentiment, even though it's just fine in real life..oh well.

Caffeine High

I had just put away my coffee themed stamps after the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers hop ended, when the Christmas Kickstart challenge for Snarky Christmas cards suddenly tickled my coffee fancy yet again. I had a little bit of trouble thinking of a snarky Christmas design but then went for my go-to Crazy Christmas elf image from a set by Recollections. This guy, with his wild and crazy eyes is one of my favorites. I colored him up and added a tiny coffee cup by Waffle Flower, then computer generated my sentiment.

Scandi Christmas

I made this card base quite a long while back, and it's just been lurking in my unfinished project pile all this time. The die is by Tim Holtz and was given to me by my dear blog friend, Janis of Her Peaceful Garden. I finally pulled it out and decided to turn it into a Christmas card. The stamp image is by Simonne Clay Designs and I used die cut ovals by Gina Marie. Added some inking and a few enamel dots from my stash. I tend to hoard those enamel dots so am making a deliberate effort to start using them (but it's hard, haha!)

Here is another version of that stencil by Stamplorations (Latte). I used rose and pink inks to blend the coffee cup, then added a heat embossed butterfly and some washi tape from my stash. Something Wonderful

I thought that I wouldn't have time for anymore coffee or tea themed projects this week, but I found myself at my craft table pulling out some white embossing powder and these chalkboard sentiments by My Craft Spot. A cup image by Paper Sweeties from Eat Cake, some floral stamps by Winnie and Walter, and a tiny steam image by K Andrews...and I came up with this! I rummaged through bags and bags of paper scraps, looking for a patterned paper that combined orange and teal (that I just KNEW I had somewhere). When I couldn't find it..I decided to stamp my own orange and teal pattern...yes! I also mde my chalkboard frame with kraft paper that I cut and mitered, then inked up.
