Rustic Christmas

While I had my lovely Christmas collage stamp by Red Lead out, I decided to make another card, this time with kraft card stock and ink. The glitter paper is by DCWV and the dies are by Little B. I used an embossing folder from my stash and the gold embossing powder that I used along the bottom edge of the tag is by Stampendous.

'O Christmas Tree

I love heat embossing, but for some reason I stopped using that technique for quite some time. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I pulled out my VersaMark ink pad and gold embossing powder and had a great old time. So I remembered how much fun it was and this time used a beautiful vintage collage stamp by Red Lead to make this Christmas card. The embossing folder was given to me so I have no idea who makes it. I heat embossed the image with gold powder by Stampendous and added some sparkly metallic gold and white twine by The Ribbon Resource. This came together so quickly that I may use this for my main Christmas card this year. I love the white and gold neutral color combo and the two kinds of embossing.

Christmas Wishes

My granddaughter has been here for several days, which means that I don't have access to my craft room, which doubles as the guest room. Therefore, I had to use some die cuts that I had cut out earlier, to make this forest scene. The tag is by Gina K designs, the snowflake is Little B, the tree is by Cottage Cutz and the deer is Impression Obsession. I torn white paper for snow and added a scrap of ribbon and stamped sentiment.

Lighthouse

Here is another card that I made using the paper pad, Ocean Secrets, which I won on Crafty Hazelnut's PP challenge. It's amazing how much dimension you can get by fussy cutting and layering the images, and adding inked edges. I also used a sentiment background stamp by Tim Holtz  from Flights Of Fancy and a ship's wheel stamp by Stampin'Up. Went with a natural colored twine instead of my usual jute twine, to stay with the pastel color theme. The lighthouse was much easier to fussy cut than the seahorse was (note to self).

Under the Sea

I recently won a beautiful ocean themed paper pad from the Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge and decided to use it right away for a change. The illustrations are beautiful and I love the colors and patterns. I decided to fussy cut the extra images and mount with foam tape over the original print for dimension. I then added a stamped sentiment by Altenew and some first aid gauze as a ribbon. Thanks for my blog friend, Janis, for the inspiration to use gauze from my medicine cabinet! Even managed to dig through my stash and find a little silver charm to hang from the bow. I don't often use printed toppers but these are so pretty that all I had to do was add a few of my own embellishments, layering, and a stamped sentiment. Let me tell you though, fussy cutting that seahorse and coral was really mind numbing and I'm not sure I'll do THAT again!

Red white and beachy!

With all of the Christmas projects I've been making over the past several days I thought I'd work on something summery for a change. I bought several Build A Scene dies sets by Xcut last year on sale, and am only now starting to use them. I have to admit that they were more difficult to use than I expected because there are no instructions. The dies involve layers upon layers, and some of my first versions had to be scrapped because my layers were not the right size. This caused gaps in the design once I tried to put them together. Finally realized that I have to build them from the back forward instead of front to back. In addition, I actually left off the top-most die layer because it would have been too large for this A2 sized card. The next time I make it, I'll try a 5x7 card base instead.

Anyway, this  one is called Seaside (naturally) and I added a stamped sentiment by Cardz TV, and a  stamped circular frame  and sailboat image by Stampin' Up. I think I'll make several of these, using different summery colors, to add to my card stash. If I really want to torture myself I can try to paper piece the scene!

From Our House pillowbox

So, once I had my pillow box die by Lawn Fawn out, I had to make another version...this time with a modern look. I used Candy Cane Lane card stock by DCWV and this cute stamp again by TCP (Handmade Christmas). All I needed was some deep red twine. I plan to make up a batch of these and fill them with candy for stocking stuffers. Changing the paper I use gives this one a whole different look from the vintage one, doesn't it?

Vintage Christmas

SSS Monday, not a cardI bought a Lawn Fawn pillow box die some time back and have been itching to use it...but didn't pull it out of its packaging until today. Now I may just end up cutting out pillow boxes for every occasion! I had been tracing a template and trying to use a bone folder to get the curved score lines..without much success. Now I can just whip through it and decorate to my hearts content.
I used the Traditional Christmas kraft stack by DCWV, along with a tag die by Gina K and an ornament stamp that I heat embossed in gold. I'm not sure why the inked edges on the ornament look reddish orange in the photo because they actually match the deep red of the band.

Love at Christmas

Still having fun making Christmas cards in July! Hmmm, it would be great if I also did my Christmas shopping early, instead of last minute. I used a stamp by The Cat's Pajamas (Handmade for You), a stitched label by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix, and that adorable little penguin by Cardz TV. All the supplies I used on this card are at least 5 years old ! I stamped the sentiment image once in black, and once in red. Then I cut out the red version of the banner, and adhered on top of the the black and white one for a pop of color. All I needed to do was add some plain twine and it's done.

Glitter and Shine

I recently got this Cutplorations die by Stamplorations (Christmas Tree) but hadn't used it yet. So, as I'm on a Christmas card making spree this week...out it came. The design works wonderfully for CAS designs and I couldn't resist backing the die cut with glitter cardstock by DCWV. This tree was still pretty plain so out came my teeny tiny ornament, star and candy cane dies by Crafter's Companion again. Sheesh...that candy cane is soooooo small. I kept stressing about accidentally losing it! The card still looked awfully bare, especially along the top so I used my scoring board to score a couple of lines..and I'm done!

Joy

Yes, it's another Christmas card. This one uses paper from the Letters to Santa stack by DCWV, a tag die by Avery Elle, tiny ornament dies from Crafter's Companion and a sentiment die by Taylored Expressions. The paper that I used to make the tag had lines on it for letter writing. Once I cut the tag, I thought the lines reminded me of ornament hangers so I decided to add little tiny baubles. I also stamped some small snowflakes in pale blue.

From Our House to Yours

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had any time to stamp, which tends to make me cranky. Soooo...I took the afternoon to whip up a couple of Christmas cards for my donation stack. The patterned paper is DCWV and the stamp is by The Cat's Pajamas. I added metallic silver cardstock which I cut with a stitched square die by Cottage Cutz and a few small rhinestones.

Tulip Time

Here is another card that I made with a few old embellishments that I made some time ago. I pulled out the paper-pieced tulips, added leaves from a Taylored Expressions die, and popped it on a stitched tag by Winnie and Walter. The die cut label is by Gina K Designs, and the sentiment is by Cardz TV. I used a dotted embossing folder by Cuttlebug and left the right side free of embossing, just to see what it looked like. That little green brad finishes off this CAS card.

Red white blue and Birthday!

I've been trying to use old stamps, old stash, and old stamped images that I've been amassing in zip lock bags. The cupcake stamp is by Stamplorations and the stamped background uses a very old wood mounted stamp by Stampin'Up. the tag die is by Avery Elle, with embossing folder by Darice (I think). The sentiment is by  Jennifer Ellory. As I have several friends, and 4 family members with July birthdays, I like to use a patriotic color combo for  their birthday cards

Flamingo Birthday

Well, summer is here in full force now so it's time for me to pull out some of my summer-themed stamps and ink them up. This is a really old stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers (now out of business), called "Flamingos on Vacation". I tore and inked some paper to resemble a sandy beach, and added a sentiment by MFT (Bitty Bears). I am slowly using up some really old paper by DCWV and even found some fun paper twist twine in one of my craft drawers.

There are a number of challenges online this month that call for patriotic themes or red, white and blue so I took this opportunity to pull out my Hero Arts stamp sets, "This is Big", and "Operation Write Home Year Round Sentiments". In addition, this called for die-cutting with some glitter cardstock! I used a label die by Spellbinders, star dies by Spellbinders and MFT, button die by MFT and stamped star by Hero Arts.

With Sympathy

My mother's favorite flower was the chrysanthemum, in part because it was her family crest. Her favorite color mum was a golden orange-yellow that is popular in the autumn. So, when I won this Hero Arts Mum Stem stamp set as part of a prize package, I had to pull it out to use on a sympathy card. The sentiment is by Kaiser Kraft and I added Nuvo Drops and a blended ink border along the bottom.

Butterfly set

I wanted to try a hinged card design, which is explained on the Butterfly Spot challenge blog, and it took me three views of the tutorial to figure out but I managed in the end, haha! It's not really a difficult fold at all but I'm notoriously bad at any fold besides the simple score and press. These  stitched hexagon dies are by Winnie & Walter. I added a butterfly die by Tonic Studios (Layered Butterfly set),  sentiment by Stamplorations (Trendy Butterflies) , and foliage stamps by Autumn Leaves. I cut the butterflies twice, and inlaid a different color in the wings. Then I inked the raised areas and covered it all with glitter. The stitched tag die is by Avery Elle.
