Laundry Day

GIVEAWAY! (As this is in appreciation for those who participate in the Cat Lovers Hop, entry in the drawing requires an entry in the hop challenge. Thanks for understanding!)

Can you believe it's the 8th year of the Cat Lovers Hop? I still remember when it was a twinkle in Janis' eye Her Peaceful Garden ...should she do it, should she not?  As you've figured out, she did decide to host one and here we are. I am pleased to one of the guest designers on this year's 2022 Cat Lovers Hop again, and am sharing a card made with a stamp by VivaLasVegastamps, which is one of the sponsors. I have quite a few VLVS images in my stash, as I collected unmounted stamps years back. This one was begging to be inked up for the hop. I love the vintage look of the image..

Did anyone's mom or grandmother have a kitchen towel or potholder embroidered all in red, in the style called Redwork? I remember a kitchen towel in my Grandma's kitchen that seemed to be part of a "Days of the Week" set, with only the "Tuesday" part left. This card is inspired by redwork, and I just love the charming mama kitty, by VivaLasVegastamps, hanging up mittens to dry on wash day.  I used a Spellbinders die, and eyelet and embroidered lace by May Art Ribbon. The sentiment is by Cardz TV.

I would like to offer a cat stamp by Nellie's Choice to one, randomly chosen commenter to thank you for checking out my project and joining in the hop.  Sorry for the glare but I can't seem to get a decent photo and didn't want to open the package. Open to US or International.

  1. Hi, Karen! I've been wondering where you've been since the Cat Lovers Hop started, but now I'm so happy to see your sweet kitty card! I adore vintage and retro images, especially kitties, as they remind me of my childhood. Your card is adorable! I hope you are doing okay, my friend, as I thought I would see more kitty cards from you this week.

  6. I love everything about this card, Karen!!
First off I had to look up and read about Redwork....SO INTERESTING!! I had never heard of it and I am not sure I have ever seen any....but now I will be on the lookout at historical museums!! I have some old embroidered items from my great aunt squirreled away, but I don't think any of them are of this style.
I absolutely love this mama kitty image....and I am so glad you mentioned she is hanging out mittens!! Of course she is!! I had not noticed it, though. So very, very sweet. Love all the other touches you added to this beautiful card, too....buttons and lace. So purrfect.
Thank you so much for Guest Designing for our #2022CatLoversHop!! I appreciate it more than I can say!!

  9. I absolutely adore your card, Karen! That sweet image reminds me of a redwork pattern for embroidery. The gingham dp is such a wonderful choice. It's good to see you playing again in the Cat Lovers Hop.

  10. Oh Karen, I just adore this card! I love the vintage look of the image, and how you used the lace and buttons on it also! So pretty! Our neighbor growing up used to embroider, but she didn't do redwork. She did have a piece she made in her kitchen that read "No matter where I serve my guests, it seems they like my kitchen best".
