Good Tidings

I decided to make another Christmas card today, because, after all it's almost July! I couldn't resist this little cat, all bundled up in a purple scarf and knit cap, and ready for Christmas. The kitty and outfit are by Flora & Fauna, and the sentiment and stars are by Winnie & Walter. I used Spellbinder dies for the label, and a Tim Holtz embossing folder by Sizzix. A CAS card design that is perfect for mass producing at Christmas.

Hello

As I flipped through some stamp sets that I hadn't used yet (even though I've had them for quite some time) I found this set by Echo Park with a simple laurel wreath design and banner sentiment. With the addition of a stamped and die cut butterfly by Clearly Besotted, and a die cut set of ovals by Kat Scrappiness, I had this card to add to my stash. I love it when stamps and dies almost put themselves together all on their own, don't you?

Reindeer

Still trying to work with this laptop and NOT happy at all because I'm having a terrible tie uploading my photos and editing them. However, it can't be helped at the moment, so here I am. I used the cutest little image and sentiment by Flora and Fauna for this sweet tag card, and used a snowflake embossing folder by Park Lane. All I needed to add was some bakers twine and die cut circles as a mat. This little guy may want to be a reindeer but I think he makes the cutest pup ever!

Peaceful Thoughts

I had to much fun using the Hero Arts Looking Glass, Underwater Reef die to make a CAS card. I combined it with a sentiment from the Feb. 2021 My Monthly Hero kit, and a background made with Distress Inks. That tiny scuba diver was given to me many years ago by an online stamping friend and was the first time I inked it up.  Those tiny fish were die cut as part of a pale blue layer and the colors were muddied the first time I tried to color them with alcohol markers. So I used a white Prisma pencil first, and then colored them again...which worked perfectly. Some jute twine for texture and a nautical feel finished off this design. My computer crashed last night and I'm struggling along on an old laptop, so I hope my photo isn't too bad.

Hit The Road Jack

I love making a whole batch of backgrounds in a session or two, so I can have them on hand for future cards. Unfortunately, once I file them away, they often get forgotten. This weekend I pulled some of these out and turned them into cards. I used Distress Oxide inks for the card base and for the die cut, shaped element. The tag is a die by Sizzix and the fun stamp of a bird on a bicycle (Bird on Bike)  is by Lost Coast Designs.  The sentiment is by Inkadinkado, the clouds are by Penny Black and the sun image is by Firefly.  I even used a little bit of crinkle ribbon that I've been hoarding.

Pixie's Snippets challenge 431`. I used snippets and scraps for the tag, stamped image of the bird and bike, and the stamped clouds. The coral colored label is also a snippet, as I only had enough to cut a partial label to tuck behind the tag.

Graphic45 Let Them Eat Cake

I'm on a roll with this Gilded Lily collection by Graphic 45. The papers and embellishments combine beautifully with die cut labels and frames by Spellbinders, which I used here. I layered scraps of three different patterns, inking all edges, and topped it with the Spellbinders frame and one of the cut-apart images. The sentiment label was fussy cut from one of the 12x12 papers, and mounted on a scrap of the blue print. Then I cut around the label shape, leaving a very thin edge of blue. Some seam binding ribbon, tied in a knot, is the finishing touch. As I mail all of my cards, or donate them to a local nursing home, I try to keep them fairly flat, so don't add dimensional flowers or bulky decorative elements. The variety of smaller images to be found in the patterned papers allows me to make embellishments that have just enough dimension but are still easy to mail.

Snippets Challenge 430. I used snippets from the Gilded Lily collection, along with scraps of card from my ever-growing snippets stash.

Hello There

I rarely make cards with a general theme, but I needed  a small card to tuck into something I was sending to a friend recently. So, I pulled out a stamp set by Dear Lizzie, along with a sentiment by MFT, and stamped my own background. The punched flower square has been in my stash for years, and I wanted to coordinate my card base with the deco-square colors. Rather than rummage through my entire patterned paper stash, I just made my own. I need to do this more often, as it's a great way to use those smaller stamps in a set.

Smile

Here is another card that I made with papers from the Echo Park collection. I was given some shaped and colored doilies by a friend, so I cut one to fit and tucked it behind the main image panel. Then I added some bakers twine, small yellow eyelets and a tiny tag. The sentiment stamp is by Paper Sweeties.

Big Dreams Graduation Card

I didn't think I needed any graduation cards this year but then I got an announcement for a friend's daughter's college graduation this last month. So, went off to dig through my stash to see what I could come up with. Fortunately, I bought a paper pad with a graduation theme years and years ago, and I combined it with Spellbinder label dies and a sentiment by MFT. I even got brave and added a button for a change. I don't usually use buttons, for fear they'll pop through the envelope, but I'll just add some thin foam and hope for the best.

Thank You Tweetings

One of my friends gave me a card making kit with a parakeet theme, and I opened it up right away to make a thank you card for her. I rarely use card kits, but this was a fun one, with pretty spring colors and cute birds. I added a die cut doily by Stamplorations, then heat embossed some fancy corners with an ancient wood mounted stamp I've had for 15 years. I stamped on vellum for a lacy look that I ended up really loving. The green parakeet was cut from patterned paper and popped up behind the bird case, just for fun. A double stitched rectangle die by MFT, and some white twine and a green brad finished this one off. I'm planning to dig into more of those card kits that I have stashed away, and start using them once in awhile instead of sticking to stamped and die cut cards only.

Frog Prince

I have quite a few Lawn Fawn stamp sets, but I didn't realize how many of their dies I had until I started digging through my die collection this week to make a card that only uses dies. This cute little frog (Tiny Gift Box Frog Add-On) was given to me as part of a blog prize awhile back, as was the For You die (also by Lawn Fawn). The Lawn Fawn Bubble Border reminds me of the ball pits that my grandkids love to jump into, and my go-to Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die is much used over the years. I even added a gold crown, which is cut from an old gift box lid.

Party Pants

My son's birthday is next week and I hadn't made a card for him yet, so I got busy in my craft room today. I used the Hero Arts Hipster Animals set to stamp the husky dog and cat, and added glasses to the husky. The tag die is by Gina K Designs, and the label and frame die are by Diamond Press. I used a fun sentiment by Stampin' Up, and a Turn-About stamp by Concord & 9th for the background. Now to get it sent before his birthday, which is a whole 'nother thing.
