Sending Some Happy

My blog friend Janis, https://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/  sent me this adorable die set with various buildings in it called "Spring Landscapes" by Jeannine's Art, and it included this little fishing shack on the water as part of the set. I combined it with rainbow dies by Concord & 9th, and the coordinating Rainbow Sentiments, also by Concord & 9th. The wonky stitched frame is by Gina Marie. This card just made me smile, and I plan to make several to send out this month. After all, what better way to celebrate the warm spring weather than with a rainbow?!

A Good Day

This stamp has been in my stamp drawer for so long that I have no idea who made it but I love the folk art style. I stamped it in a bright color, then matted with black card stock and added to a brightly colored card base. Some washi tape and a few black gems gives this card a CAS look that I ended up really liking.  I've been dealing with doctor and dental appts this week, plus various annoying health issues,  so coloring images feels beyond my capabilities at the moment. Simple stamps to the rescue!

Magical Christmas

I can always count on Scrappy Mo's Rudolph challenge to keep me on track for my Christmas cards all through the year, and I finally managed to finish my card today. I used a Spellbinders die set that I bought over a year ago and hadn't even opened yet, along with stitched lawn dies by MFT, and a heat embossed sentiment by Ellen Hutson. I die cut extra versions of the deer antler and tree die in red and gold metallic card, then fussy cut and layered them over the deer and tree images. The little white rabbit is edged and lightly blended with pale gray to make it stand out against the white "snow". The scalloped edging is by Winnie & Walter, and the double stitched rectangle is by Gina Marie.

Simple Joys

Years and years ago I borrowed a set of hexagon punches from a friend of mine and punched a whole container full of random patterned and solid hexagon shapes. At the time, I wasn't thinking about how I would use them, so I didn't sort them by color and size, nor did I use coordinated papers. Because it was such a hodge podge, those punched shapes sat for over 10 years, and I finally decided to make myself use some of them. I layered and inked a few in shades of tan and deep yellow, then adhered them across an embossed card. The embossing folder is by Park Lane, the label die is by Diamond Press, and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink. The bee is a very old wood mounted stamp by Rubber Stampede, and I added eyelets, mulberry flowers and tiny brads. Lots of really old supplies here, and lots of snippets from my stash.

Squeeze the Day

Here is another card that I made using the same Echo Park collection. I used a tag die by Sizzix, along with an oval die by Kat Scrappiness. The stamped sentiment is by Altenew, and the cute rosette embellishment is Jolee's. The rosette didn't have the exact colors that I wanted, so I used a tag die by Paper Smooches to die cut that tiny circle, and added a little rhinestone to the center.

Foxy Birthday

I used the Whittle Fox by Poppystamps, along with a sentiment by Papertrey Ink, tag die and label by Gina K Designs, cupcake stamps by PinkFresh Studio, and even an eyelet and ribbon. I tried to use up odds and ends in my stash with this one.

Small Things

A friend gave me a scrapbook collection by Echo Park that I probably won't use for layouts, so I turned it into cards. I have a lot of trouble using paper collections in general because I usually grab solid colored card stock and stamps as my first step. That means all those pretty collections sit and gather dust. So, my focus this week was on using at this kit, to make at least five cards.

I combined the papers from the kit with a few card stock scraps from my stash, along with gold eyelets, and a stamped sentiment by PinkFresh Studios. One card down, four to go!

Gator Wishes

I won this cute balloon frame die by MFT as part of a blog prize last year, and spent part of week making card bases for birthday cards. I love that you can custom choose your balloon and frame colors, and then add whatever elements you want. The super-adorable gator die is a whittle die by Poppystamps, and the stamped cupcake is by Pink Fresh Studio. I used a stamped sentiment by Papertrey Ink, on a die cut label by Gina K Designs, and a colorful embossed background.

Easter Hedgie

I decided to move away from the traditional Easter bunnies and chicks for this card, and pulled out my adorable little Hedgehog die by Hero Arts to make this one. The papers are from The Green Stack by DCWV, which has the most wonderful texture woven right into the paper. I die cut the sentiment with the Splendid Happy Easter die by Poppystamps, and fussy cut a carrot to tuck into Mr. Hedgie's paws. Don't you just love his little prickles?! This is almost making me want to plant a garden this year, but with the long-standing drought in California showing no sign of abating, I'll skip it again. Who am I kidding anyway...I'd rather be crafting!

Snippets Challenge 425. What a fun way this was to use snippets. The hedge hog was cut from a scrap, as was the sentiment. I only had a bit of the garden patterned paper, so squeezed out as much as I could by cutting an oval and layering over the green. Yay for snippets!

Just For You

I found this adorable owl in the bargain bin at Michael's Crafts some years ago, and just saw it in my stash again this week. I combined it with a sentiment by Hero Arts and did some surgery on the Hero Arts stamp and removed part of the words to simplify the sentiment. All this card needed was a tiny bit of jute twine , a little inking,  and some fun papers from my scrap stash.

Cat Dreams

I keep a lot of baggies and boxes filled with stamped images around, and when I'm in the mood, I color them. Sometimes I even turn them into cards! This little kitty was one of those. I fussy cut him, and then couldn't quite figure out how to use such a teeny, tiny image. As I went through some patterned paper scraps I found this lovely still life and thought, "Ah hah! I will make him look even tinier, and that could work. The sentiment is heat embossed in white, for contrast, and I have another card to add to my stash.
