Autumn Birthday

The days are finally getting that slight crispness in the air that signals fall and so I pulled out my autumn colored paper to make this. The embossing folder is by Cuttlebug, the stamped wood pattern is by Winnie and Walter, and the sentiment is by Hero Arts. The layered square dies are by Cottage Cutz. Then I added mesh, which was heat embossed with bronze embossing powder and the flowers are hand cut .

Poinsettia

I just got this beautiful die set by Amazing Grace, for Spellbinders ,  today in the mail and had to use one of the dies right away. The sentiment frame is from this set, and the poinsettia die is by Poppystamps. Pulled out some scrap gingham paper from my stash and went for a somewhat non-traditional color combo of black and white, royal and deep red.  As I only had a tiny piece of black ribbon in my ribbon drawer, I had to combine two different widths to make my tie and bow (shhhh...don't tell anyone). Snipped apart a swirl of adhesive rhinestones for the poinsettia center, and hand cut the royal blue banner flag. Even the royal blue and white card stock were scraps that barely fit my die and measurements. Love using up snippets!

Brighten the world

Here is another card that I made from a card kit that a friend gave to me. I donate a lot of cards to local nursing homes and this one will go in my donation stash. I used the kit elements in a different way than they are designed to be used, as it required a lot of fancy folds and interactive parts that I'm too impatient to deal with. In addition, I don't think that the seniors that receive these would want to deal with the belly bands, and myriad folds that it calls for. At least that's why I'm telling myself, haha! As I seem to have accumulated a lot of premade embellishments and card kit elements over the years, I am determined to start using some of them. I usually stamp or die cut to my own design, so using premade items are a stretch for me.

Into the Woods

My niece's husband is a hunter so I always make him  cards with an outdoor theme. This card uses a deer die by Impression Obsession, a button die by MFT, and stamps from my stash. Also used a stitched rectangle die by Lawn Fawn. I colored the trees  and ground with alcohol markers by Spectrum Noir.

Soul Happy

A friend of mine sent me a paper kit for really intricate fancy card folds, so I decided to tackle it last night. Well, apparently it was too fancy for me, because I could not figure out how to fold the cards. It involved multiple folds, in different directions and shapes...and my mind couldn't get around it on this hot summer night. So I decided to use the elements in a different way, and made a batch of simpler cards to add to my donation stash.  Nothing says you're required to use kits in the way they were designed, right?  I donate cards to our local nursing homes and retirement communities...and I think this one will make someone smile.

Beach Day

I found this adorable little crab at the beach in my stash, but have no idea how makes it (maybe Lil' Inkers Designs?). At any rate, I colored him up and added a sentiment by Heidi Grace. Layered stitched square dies by Gina Marie, and popped it on a card base with woven linen texture. this one will go to my granddaughter, who love the beach.

Get to the Top

This was a graduation card that I made for my cousin's daughter . The image is by The Crafts Meow and sentiment is by Marks Finest Papers. Unfortunately, both companies are no longer in business. The paper is by DCWV, and I used a border punch by EK Success for the notebook edge.
