Enjoy Today

I used the Trendy Butterflies stamp set by Stamplorations, along with a tag die by Gina K Designs and stitched circle dies by MFT to make this pretty springtime card. A striped brad and some bling make this even more special. Entering this in the Stamplorations Spring Fling Hop!

World View

Di, of Pixie's Crafty Workshop, and I were recently discussing (by email) printed backgrounds that are a quick and easy option for cards, and I lamented that I hadn't seen any in my local stores. I have always wanted to try making a galaxy or night sky background, but never got around to it. Then, I remembered that my wall calendar last year was a Stargazing calendar, and I had kept it. We crafters tend to be hoarders, and it was a good thing because it was perfect for my card.  My daughter requested that I make a card for my granddaughter's science teacher. They've been studying the stars and planets, so I wanted to go with that theme. Fortunately, I remembered that I also had this beautiful globe die by Spellbinders, called World View, which I had never used. The continents were inked through the die and I shaded the oceans to look more dimensional. The postage stamp frame die is by Avery Elle (to continue the travel theme), and stitched stars are by Fun Stampers Journey. Now I have a whole calendar's worth of galaxy and night skies to upcycle, and that makes me happy.

Pixie's Snippets challenge 405. I used snippets of a wall calendar, and of a financial porfolio cover that I've had for ages. Lots of snippets here.

Let Yourself Go!

I cut bits of paper and turned them into a kite some time back, but never got around to adding it to a card. With the windy weather we've been having, it was the most natural thing to do. The papers were crimped with my (very old) Fiskars crimper, and hand cut to make this fun kite. I popped a bright brad in the middle and mounted it on cloud patterned paper. A bunch of colorful fiber and bakers twine for the tail was the finishing touch. I entered this in the Stamplorations Spring Fling blog hop, because what's more springlike than kite flying?!

Happy Holidays

I look forward to Christmas challenges all through the year because it keeps me on track to avoid that last minute crunch that used to plague me each December as I madly worked on my cards. I used my favorite Tim Holtz snowflake embossing folder, and an ornament die by Sweet and Sassy to make this CAS card. The stamped banner, rhinestones, and silver bakers twine are all it needs to send a festive greeting.

Happy New Year

I made this New Years card with stamps by Fiskars and hexagon punches by Stampin' Up that I borrowed from a friend. The hexagons were stamped with a pattern on different colors of cardstock, and then cut. Yes, I know that New Year's Day is long past, but finally getting around to posting this one! I have great hopes of 2021 being much better than 2020, and so far (with vaccinations etc) it seems to be on track.

Happiest Of Birthdays

I was given this pretty embossing folder by Sizzix (Ornate Frame with Dots) awhile back and used it to make a set of about 7 cards last week. I used a sentiment by My Favorite Things, a floral stamp by Stampin'Up, a butterfly die by Firefly Designs, and a sprinkling of rhinestones. I entered this in the Stamplorations Spring Fling blog hop and linky, which includes anything spring related.

Crane Mail Art

I recently won this wonderful stamp by Lost Coast Designs, and when I saw their Mail Art challenge this month I knew I needed to pull it out. A friend of mine is going through a really tough time right now, and am sending her a care package but didn't get around to making a card to go with it. I think this decorated envelope will serve just fine, and the sentiment (by Stamplorations) couldn't be more perfect. The stencils (spiral) are by Andy Skinner and unknown (bamboo stencil that I've had forever) . The stamp is the flying crane by Lost Coast Designs.

Speaking of stencils though, as I looked through my stash for that bamboo stencil. I found TWO huge binders filled with stencils that I've had tucked away for the past several years. How did I not even realize I had all those stencils, sitting there gathering dust? It was like opening a treasure chest to find them, and now I need to sit and sort through to see what I have. Hmm, maybe I do have too much stuff, haha!

Change

I used watercolors to make a splattered and color washed background, and a floral stamp by Gina K Designs to make several versions of this image. For this card, I colored the stems but left the blooms uncolored in order to make the butterfly stand out. The sentiment is by Stamplorations (from Trendy Butterflies)and the butterfly is by Mark's Finest Papers. My card base is inked to coordinate with the paint splatters.

Moments

I had found a really old box of watercolor paints in my garage that I've had for over 40 years, but had never used. Expecting them to be dried out, I was thrilled to find them in perfect condition, and so I played with them a couple of weeks ago. I colored this butterfly die by Stamplorations (Flutter Zen 1) , and combined it with a sentiment (also by Stamplorations, from Trendy Butterflies), a very old metal rimmed tag from my stash, some fern dies by Spellbinders and a gorgeous cover die by Gemini.

Pixie's Snippets challenge #402. I used snippets for the sentiment, butterfly, and ferns.
