Peace at Christmas

Yes, it's another card using my old DCWV paper stack. I'm actually having a lot of fun limiting myself to this one paper pack, as it's making me look at my supplies in a new way. This one involved fussy cutting a tiny snow buddy and popping her up with foam tape. I used a stamp by Inkadinkado, and a snowflake die by Little B. A strip of paper from the same stack made a border that anchors my sentiment image and snowflake as well.

Snowman Greetings

I sat down and made several Christmas cards today, since I really haven't been meeting my quota of at least a card a week lately. I donate a lot of cards to local nursing and retirement homes, and often end up with not enough for friends and family. So I pulled out my old DCWV Christmas and Winter Stack and made some frosty winter designs. The snowman stamp is by Imaginisce, and the sentiment stamp is by Papertrey Ink. I fussy cut and colored the snowman, then added a few enamel dots by Stampin' Up. This was a great way to use those papers with bold designs on them, and just add a focal point to create a scene.

Christmas Parade

I recently got this fun die by Spellbinders and just had to make several cards for my card stash. The sentiment is by Avocado Arts, and the papers are by DCWV. I cut strips and borders from some of the papers in the stack and adhered them to ground the die cut.The snowflake die is by Spellbinders as well, and the sentiment is from my stash. I'm working with the same DCWV paper stack (a very, very old stack at that) so this week's cards all seem to be blue!

My card stack doesn't seem to be increasing at the rate it should, so I'm determined to make myself work on holiday cards for the next several weeks. Now that Thanksgiving is past, I can truly get into the Christmas mood as I shop online and surround myself with snippets of paper and glue.

Christmas Kickstart challenge 43, Twas the Night before Christmas. In my house, my kids were anything except quiet as mice. The excitement was evident, and this parade sums up the atmosphere perfectly!

Because my daughter and her family are completely social distancing from friends and other family members through this COVID year, we were able to have them over for Thanksgiving. They are the only ones we've seen since March, when our state went on COVID shut down. The granddaughters have distance learning online, and my son-in-law is able to work from home. I look forward to things improving next year and being able to see my family again. For now though, we are being safe.

Some of you know that my two granddaughters, Remi and Blair, love to make cards and all manner of crafts. They've participated in the Cat Lovers Hop each year, and love to borrow my craft supplies whenever I'm feeling generous. Here are our three generations of crafters on Thanksgiving Day! I hope you and yours are staying healthy, and that we can all hang in there until life returns to normal again.

Winter Wonderland

My husband asked me to make a simple card for his brother's birthday next month, and so I pulled out my winter wilderness stamp by Sum More Fun stamp company. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and matted on solid blue card stock. To tell the truth, I wanted to add eyelets to the corners of the card but husband said, "No, keep it simple. He won't notice extra details anyway". Haha!, well okay then.

Thanksgiving Blessings

I dug deep into my stash and used this fun, houndstooth paper, plus a really old Sizzix pie die to make this Thanksgiving card. The beautiful stamped image is by Mark's Finest Papaers, which is no longer in business. I even pulled out my crimper (which is at least 20 years old) to give the pie tin a little texture.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Turkey Time

I can't believe Thanksgiving is nearly here, and I still needed to make a couple of Thanksgiving cards. So, I pulled out my Poppystamps Festive Turkey die and put this together. The tag is by Fresh Cuts, and the leaf dies are Whittle Maple Leaf and Whittle Oak Leaf, also by Poppystamps. I used scraps from my snippets stash for this card, which always makes me happy. Oh and an eyelet...even better, haha!

Fall Greetings

I made several versions of this card, using a Spellbinders kit acorn die. I combined it with a Sizzix Tim Holtz alterations leaf die, which I inlaid into my card base. These two cards us the positive and negative leaf and backgrounds, along with a a distress inked card base. Die cutting from a card base and swapping out the negative and positive gives me two cards to work with, which is a great way to do multiples for holidays.  I finished one of the acorns with an enamel square, tipped on its point and added a fiber knot to the other one. This is a great way to use up odds and ends from your stash. The first photo shows the two versions, using positive and negative die cuts. The second photo shows the sentiment stamped inside the cards. The sentiment is by Gina K Designs.

Birthday Pansies

I made several card bases awhile back, with white heat embossed sentiments, using Spellbinder fancy label dies. Yesterday, I pulled out an old stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers and stamped several pansy images. After coloring and fussy cutting, I added them to my card base and made this. Coloring and fussy cutting made me remember how relaxing that can be.

Friends and Chocolate

I spent half the evening coloring this cute image, and had a terrible time with goofs and mishaps, argh! My marker ran on the mittens and candy box, so I had to fussy cut from another image...then glue and color the overlay. After changing the colors TWICE, I finally cut and adhered the image to my card base, and then realized it didn't have any coffee on it. Oh my goodness....what a ridiculous evening. Not to be thwarted, however, I dug around in my stamps and found a teeny coffee (or cocoa) cup image by Not 2 Shabby.  Colored and fussy cut that...and popped it onto my main image. DONE!!

Coffee Break

I used a border stamp by Club Scrap for the leafy design, and heat embossed in silver. The sentiment is by Mark's Finest Papers, and the coffee cup die is by Cottage Cutz. I used paper by Stampin' Up for the coffee cup. This design let me dig deep into my scrap stash and use up bits of paper that most people would probably toss.

Pixie's Snippets challenge 390. I used all small snippets for this design. Even the base card stock was a scrap.

I used paper by DCWV, a die by Spellbinders, a sentiment sticker, and drywall mesh that I inked and then heat embossed with copper embossing powder for a metallic look. The coffee sleeve was stamped with a background stamp by Club Scrap, and inked.

Cup of Christmas Cheer

I used this image from Coffee For all Seasons by Stamploration, and a tiny snowflake die by Crafters Companion to make this card. The patterned paper is by DCWV and the navy mat is stamped and heat embossed with snowflakes. A sentiment by Winnie and Walter, and some quick inking finishes it. Looks like I'm in the mood for a lot of snowflakes and blue color combos this week!

Winner of my Cat Lovers Hop Giveaway

Sorry it took me awhile to pick my winner. My husband had a birthday this week, and my granddaughter, Blair had a birthday the week before, so we had lots of celebrations. Celebrating while social distancing and staying safe requires a little imagination, but it can be done.

Anyway, I assigned each comment a number, and then had my husband pick the winning number. That number belongs to KT Fit Kitty! Kitty, I believe I have your address already but can you please confirm it with me by email, thanks. My email address is:  kladd94803 (at) aol (dot) com.

Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful comments on my projects. I had hoped to comment on every project myself, but my computer went on the blink for a couple of days, so I didn't make it. However, I did admire each and every one. Thanks Janis, for hosting one of my favorite hops of the year!

Stay safe and well all you crafters, and happy Fall!

Karen

Merry Christmas

I love this little die set by Cottage Cutz, and I added a tiny snowman stamp just for fun. The tag die is by Pretty Pink Posh, and the embossing folder is called Snowflake, by Park Lane.

Friday Yet?

I used this fun image by The Cats Pajamas to make a fun winter card to enclose with a coffee themed gift  The snowflake background is a wood mounted stamp that I won in a giveaway several years ago, and the sentiment is also from The Cats Pajamas, and the stitched square is by Gina Marie. I love this image because it can be used year round, just by changing the colors and background.

Bloom

I made several of these cards, in different color combos to have on hand for those Just Because occasions. The background was made with small wood mounted stamps by Stampin' Up (from 2004 or so), and the flower is a very old set by Close to My Heart. I used lots of snippets and scraps for this card, and even used a paper punch to punch out those three black circles over on the left hand side. I couldn't find black enamel dots, so out came my baggie of snippets and my punch.

Pixie's Snippets challenge 390, I used all snippets for this card.
